Goodbye Havana

Updated: May 11

We had enjoyed a wonderful few days in Havana but time was drawing near to to say goodbye and return home. Before doing so, I wanted to visit Almacenes de San Jose on the Port of Havana. It is a large complex where artisans exhibit and sell their handicrafts. The harbourside warehouse, built in 1885, is an imposing facade. Inside, the area was vast and the handicrafts plentiful. Leather and ceramic items, toys, masks, and homemade knitwear are only a few of the items on display. My son was drawn to the Cuban paintings so that is where we spent most of our time.

There was a perimeter of Cuban artwork around the outside wall of the entire building. Many different artists and styles were presented. Terrific fun!

We had a wonderful time learning about Cuba and experiencing Havana. Joe, our host, was tremendously helpful. If you are planning a visit, check out Havana Executive Suite. We were glad we did just that.

Goodbye Havana. My son was already expressing his interest in another trip to Cuba. Who knows?
