Planning a holiday which would be our son's first trip to Europe, I was intrigued by Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens, Austria. I thought it would definitely be worth the small detour on our journey. We drove through stunning mountainous scenery past lovely small villages until we arrived at our destination. It was built in 1995 as a celebration of Swarovski's 100th birthday. It is termed a world of wonder and it is that indeed. The artist or architect who brought vision to the giant captured my heart. The eyes are Swarovski crystals and the gallery is underneath the grass covered mound. Witnessing it in person, well sort of thrilled me. Inside the galleries, it was indeed a wonderland of Swarovski crystals in all kinds of different designs. A very fun side trip.
